Differences in the Effectiveness of Sinovac with 5 Other Vaccines in Indonesia
The vaccination program has been running since January 2021, shortly after the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for the Sinovac vaccine.
Since then, at least six vaccines have been used in Indonesia to treat Covid-19. The first vaccine that appeared in Indonesia was Sinovac, made by a Chinese company, Sinovac. BPOM when publishing the EUA for Sinovac, stated that the efficacy or level of efficacy of this vaccine against the corona virus reached 65.3 percent. Then, not long after Sinovac, PT Bio Farma made the CoronaVac vaccine whose raw materials came from Sinovac. When issuing the EUA for CoronaVac, BPOM did not mention in detail the level of efficacy of the vaccine. However, Head of BPOM Penny K. Lukito said the CoronaVac vaccine has the same content and safety profile as the CoronaVac vaccine produced by Sinovac Beijing.
