Not because of biodiesel, the price of cooking oil is high because of this

The Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) responded to the notion that the implementation
of the biodiesel program disrupted the supply of crude palm oil (CPO) as a raw material so that the price of cooking oil soared. Regarding this matter, the Secretary General of GAPKI, Eddy Martono said, "the cause of high cooking oil prices is because international vegetable oil prices are high". In addition, Eddy also denied that entrepreneurs are more interested in providing supplies for biodiesel than for cooking oil. "The B30 program is mandatory and the volume is determined by the government," said Eddy. Meanwhile, according to LPEM FEB-UI Senior Researcher Mohamad Revindo, the cooking oil problem is caused by the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) being ineffective in regulating distribution. “The Ministry of Commerce should carry out a comprehensive distribution operation at points identified as being severely in short supply with super tight supervision. We don't necessarily accept the producers' reasons for granted,” he said.
