Telecommunication Operators Arrears of Usage Rights Fees, Observer: The Government Must Be Firm

The Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) of the Republic of Indonesia, Johnny G. Plate, continues to show consistency and firm attitude in implementing the rules.
Recently, this attitude was shown by the sending of a second warning letter from the Ministry of Communication and Information of the Republic of Indonesia to PT. Sampoerna Telekomunikasi Indonesia (STI). It is known that this warning letter was given for the arrears of the bill of Rights to Use (BHP) of the Radio Frequency Spectrum for the License of the 450 MHz Radio Frequency Band which has been used by PT STI. Kominfo has sent a warning letter to STI to pay Rp 442 billion consisting of arrears on the Radio Frequency Spectrum BHP bill and fines. In the letter, it is said that if STI does not make payments until July 31, 2021, then Kominfo threatens the operational use of the radio frequency spectrum that they have been using will be temporarily suspended on August 1, 2021. The Minister of Communication and Informatics' firm stance received a positive assessment from a public policy observer, Alamsyah Saragih . The man, who is the Ombudsman Commissioner for the 2016-2021 period, assessed that if there are 'bad' operators who do not want to pay arrears of frequency BHP, the government can immediately revoke their telecommunications operating license.
