Rooftop solar power plant investment skyrockets

The new regulation related to rooftop solar power plants (PLTS) issued by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is considered to have corrected the economic problems that have been experienced so far.
This improvement will have an impact on increasing the installation of green energy. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources has issued Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 26 of 2021 concerning Rooftop Solar Power Plants Connected to the Electric Power Network Holders of Business Permits for the Provision of Electric Power for Public Interest (IUPTLU). General Chairperson of the Indonesian Solar Energy Association (AESI) Fabby Tumiwa said that this regulatory improvement answered the aspirations of the community and had been waiting for its implementation since 2021. The reason is, the economy is still one of the determining factors for prospective PLTS roof users, in addition to other factors. Regulatory improvements that improve the economy have proven to be the main driver of the rapid increase in rooftop PV mini-grid installations in the industrial sector in the last 3 years, which increased to 35 megawatts (MW) from around 6 MW in 2018. This increase is the impact of the revision of the MEMR Regulation to reduce parallel capacity costs. from 40 hours per month to 5 hours per month.
